    Drowned in the pomp of male chauvinism.

    She talked about her pains and her worries,
    Yet again she was muted and told she didn’t matter.

    Her tears held no value nor did her life,
    All she was, was just another man’s wife.

    Was she a person or just an object,
    Or to bouts of depression a subject.

    Her suffering was hers and hers only,
    For she could not be a part of a legal society.

    She fought and she fought hard,
    To become what she is today.

    A woman, a symbol of love and hope,
    For with all the insults and brutality, she has coped.

    She rises again like a phoenix from the ashes,
    And in the dark her light flashes.
